Sian Steyn, General Manager of Exhibitions and Events at Decorex SA, said it is a privilege for Africa’s largest décor, design and lifestyle exhibition to showcase the work of the World Design Capital 2014 team.

“As South Africa’s most respected décor and design exhibition, it makes sense for Decorex Cape Town to support and align with the objectives of WDC2014. Decorex Cape Town now in its 15th year, has always been an inspiring and reliable source of information for both homeowners and the décor and design industry so we are delighted to be forming an alliance with the WDC2014 team.”

Alayne Reesberg, CEO of Cape Town Design NPC, the implementing agency for WDC2014, said Decorex Cape Town would offer loads of opportunities for creative communities, including many of the exhibitors and visitors to get involved with a programme of events and projects in 2014.
She said the aim of WDC Cape Town 2014 was to identify, nurture and promote projects that offered tangible evidence of how design could improve lives, within a uniquely South African and African context.

“Most importantly, World Design Capital means that local initiatives will get the benefit of the global spotlight during 2014. Think more media, more exposure, and a myriad of great networking possibilities.”
She added that WDC 2014 would not only impact decorators and designers in Cape Town, but throughout the country.
“WDC 2014 is designated to Cape Town, but it was always and will remain a strategic South African and African opportunity.”
