KSA CT host job opporunities workshop
KSA CT held a job opportunities workshop for third year interior design students yesterday. The aim was to encourage students to consider a career in the kitchen industry in the hopes of bringing new talent into the industry.
The afternoon started with a 'speed dating' session with the three participating kitchen design software companies: Articad, Compusoft and KDMax. This was followed by a talk by Warren Franken of Andy de Klerk Cabinet Works on what is required to be a kitchen designer and what opportunities exist in the industry. Warren got all the students to make paper aeroplanes to showcase to them how each job in unique despite being in the same discipline.
This was followed my an address by John Autard of Interior Placements on the do's and don'ts of applying for a job and compiling a CV. Then Monica di Ruvo, chairperson of the CT IID, spoke about the IID's student membership.
The day was brought to a close with the students getting to interact with the KSA members that were showcasing themselves as potential employers and suppliers. Thanks to Joos Joiners, Caesarstone, Loubser Wood, Easylife, Eclipse, Quantum Leap Designs, Spotlight Kitchens and Cabinet Works for giving up their afternoon to meet with the students.
A final thanks to Bernie Latimer and Electrical Industries for supporting the event by ensuring both the students and guests had a supply of good coffee for the afternoon with their new coffee machine.
