Congrats to the top five in our 2024 Kitchen Design Project
We are very pleased to announce the top students and special mentions for our 2024 Student Kitchen Design Project.
Top 5 These students had to do well in all sections of the project – a pretty design was not enough. An understanding to material application and costing, ability to do good plans, renders and elevations, a good mood board; and an understanding of standardised sizing in SA were vital to selection in the top 5.
Robyn Karstens – 2nd year student at BHC School of Design in Cape Town Cindy McKenzie – 2nd year student at Vega in Pretoria Megan Somers – 3rd year student at Inscape Pretoria Mpho Mudau – 3rd year at TUT in Gauteng Kyla Jooste – 3rd year student from Inscape Stellenbosch
Special overall mentions These are students who did impressive work but who missed the top five because of one flaw in their project.
Inathi Nondaba – 3rd year student DUT in KZN Sarafina Maluleka – 3rd year student TUT in Gauteng
Special section mentions Here we have highlighted students that may have impressed in one specific section of the project – the top five and special mention students were not eligible for these commendations.
Special mentions for creative use of space, design and elevations: Nelson Mandela Bay – 2nd year students: Sifiso Ndabangaya Nompu Melolo Khuzwayo Tamlyn Hird
Special mention for design aesthetics From Design Time Serena Frank Grace Taylor
Special mention mood board Cayla Voigts – from Inscape Pretoria
Special mention material specifications Lunette de Bryne – from Inscape Pretoria
We would like to congratulate all the above students and their lecturers. The top five and two special mentions have been offered internships with KSA members and SA Decor and Design Guide have kindly sponsored a copy of their stunning Guide for each of the top five.
