KSA welcomes new Decorex CT representative

Decorex are pleased to introduce their new regional representative for Cape Town to our membership. Kim Steven joined Decorex on the 1 October taking over from Sue Clarkson. In order to assist our members getting to know her a little better we would like to tell you a little about her and welcome her to Cape Town. I am sure the kitchen industry and our members specifically will all take the time to meet with her to better understand how she will be promoting Decorex CT.

Having grown up in Durban, Kim spent a gap year in London. When she came back to Durban she qualified in both Marketing and PR. She has a diploma from both IMM and PRISA. Kim started her career at Weigh-Less. Then she moved into the advertising world at The Hardy Boys working on Spar Freshline, Miladys, Bata Shoes, BSN medical, and Deco Paints. When love came knocking Kim followed her heart to Johannesburg and took up a position at a small ad agency called Ignition, here she managed the BIC and DeBeers accounts.

From there she moved to Wunderman as Client Director on the Sony Ericsson and Volvo accounts. Later she took a position at Publicis and managed the L’Oreal accounts (Garnier skincare, Garnier Hair care, 100% colour, Dark & Lovely, Lancome and Designer Fragrances). In 2006 she moved to Y&R where she became the Business Unit Head of Danone (Nutriday, Ultramel, Yogi Sip, Danino, Activia), Virgin Atlantic and Nintendo.

In 2010 her husband was transferred to Cape Town - the timing was just so that Kim was due with her son Maximillian. After Maximillian was born Kim worked for a JHB based agency – Cross colours on the Jack Daniels account. From there she took a contract at adidas as their Senior Communications Manager but decided that she needed a half day job with her small child and moved to OFyt as Client Service Director on the ADT account.

In 2015 Kim took a sabbatical and finally joined the Decorex teams in October 2016. Kim is very excited to be part of the Decorex team and hopes to make a valuable contribution to the shows.
